US and Canada (+1)
The area code gives the state or province of issue, often the city. There is no carrier name, and cell and landline numbers look the same.

How to find someone's location by phone number, and why they have to agree
The reliable way to find someone's location by phone number is to ask them. You can't pull the GPS location of a phone number from the number itself. The position comes from the phone, and here only its owner can share it.
Do
- Start a request from this page. They choose to share or decline.
- Ask them to share from Google Maps location sharing or Apple Find My.
- Ask people who expect your request, such as family, a friend you're meeting, or a colleague who agreed to check in.
- If someone may be in danger, call the police (911 in the US, 999 in the UK, 112 in India).
Don't
- Use someone's location to follow, watch or frighten them. Stalking laws in the US, the UK and many other countries can make that a crime.
- Send the request again after they decline. Respect their answer.

How do I locate a phone number?
Enter it in the box at the top of this page. You see right away where the number is registered, with its country, local time, and region or original network where known. A number such as +1 212 555 0123 reads United States, New York, NY, with the local time there. To see where the phone is now, press Continue and send a location request, and the owner decides whether to share. If it's your own lost phone, Apple Find My or Google Find Hub is the quicker route.
Can you track someone by their phone number?
Only with their agreement. A number on its own shows only where it was registered, such as its country or the region of its area code. A live location is shared only if the owner accepts your request. If you're worried about your own number, someone who only has your number can't see where you are through this site unless you accept their request.
Will the owner know I asked for their location?
Yes. The request goes to the phone's owner, and they decide whether to accept or decline. Nothing about their position reaches you before they accept, and a decline means you see no position at all. The instant reading on this page comes from the number alone and never touches their phone.
Is the phone number location lookup free?
The number reading is free and runs in your browser. The live location request is handled in our web app after you press Continue. Be wary of any promise to track a phone number for free from the number alone, since a number doesn't carry a live position.
Can I see a phone's live location from its number?
Only if the owner shares it. The number tells you where it was registered, which can be far from where the phone is today. There is no live location by phone number without their OK. Send a request from our web app, and if they accept, their phone's position appears on a map.
Does the phone's location show on a map?
Yes. Once the owner accepts, their phone's position shows as a pin. Before that, the phone number location map on the locating screen only zooms to the country or region where the number is registered. That area tells you where the number was issued and says nothing about where the phone is today.
Can I trace a mobile number from the UK or India?
Yes, to its country and, where the data has it, the network it was first issued to. The reading shows no town or state for UK and Indian mobiles. A UK mobile such as +44 7400 123456 shows United Kingdom and Three, and an Indian mobile such as +91 81234 56789 shows India and Tata Docomo, an older operator brand. Either number may have moved to another network since, and the phone's position appears only if the owner accepts your request.
Is it legal to track a phone number?
Seeing a phone's location is generally legal when its owner agrees to share it, and that is the only way this site shows a live position. Using location to harass or frighten someone is different, and stalking laws in many countries can make it a crime. Laws vary, so check the rules where you and the other person live.
